The Otterbein Loves Westerville Fall Service Plunge came to the Rotary Club of Westerville’s Harris-Askins House Saturday morning, Aug. 21.
Seven Otterbein University students participating in the Fall Plunge helped Harris-Askins House residents with seasonal cleaning, mattress flipping and furniture assembly and moving. Rotarians Bill Tompos, Tom Staebler, Jim Meacham and Joe Meyer were on hand as well, to supervise and lend a hand when needed.
Many thanks to Micia Clemmons, program coordinator for the Otterbein’s Center for Community Engagement for arranging the project, and especially to Fall Plunge student volunteers Julia Kelley (site leader), Chloe Aronowitz, Leah Brennan, Camryn Couch, Aleema Garfinkel, Annie Livesay and Hannah Mohler.
The Harris-Askins House, 200 S. State St., is a subsidized housing project for low-income senior citizens, constructed by the Rotary Club of Westerville with financing from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The 60-unit apartment building opened in 1985.
